Do you accept insurance, and how does billing work?

We accept several major insurance providers including Anthem, BCBS, Humana, Aetna, and United Healthcare (starting Summer 2024). During your initial call or visit, we’ll verify your benefits and explain any out-of-pocket costs. Our goal is to make the billing process as simple and transparent as possible.

For clients with out-of-network benefits, we can provide an itemized invoice (superbill) for insurance reimbursement. Many of our clients successfully use Reimbursify services to streamline the out-of-network reimbursement process, often achieving higher reimbursement rates.

Kentucky Therapy Solutions is committed to ensuring accessible care for all our clients. We understand that each client’s therapeutic needs are unique, and we focus on matching you with a provider whose expertise aligns with your specific goals, potentially reducing the number of sessions needed for optimal outcomes.

Payment is expected at the time of service, and we accept multiple payment methods including cash, check, and credit cards. If you have questions about insurance coverage or payment options, our staff is happy to help you understand your options and find a solution that works for you.

What should I expect during my first visit?

During your first visit to Kentucky Therapy Solutions, our specialists will conduct a thorough evaluation tailored to your child’s specific therapy needs. We’ll discuss their medical history, current challenges, and goals. You’ll receive a detailed, customized treatment plan to guide their journey. We prioritize creating a comfortable, supportive environment for both you and your child.

How long does therapy usually take to see results?

The duration of therapy varies depending on your child’s or your needs and goals. Factors include:

  • The type of therapy (e.g., speech, feeding, physical therapy, or myofunctional therapy).
  • The severity of the issue being addressed.
  • Consistency with sessions and practicing techniques at home.
  • Many families notice progress within the first few sessions, but achieving long-term results may take several weeks or months. Our team works closely with you to set realistic goals and provide regular updates on progress.
When will my child be ready to complete their therapy program?

Your child’s therapy team at Kentucky Therapy Solutions will work closely with you to track their progress toward specific developmental goals. We’ll regularly discuss your child’s achievements, challenges, and next steps throughout their therapy journey. Every child develops at their own pace, and we’ll provide clear guidance on when your child has met their therapeutic goals or is ready to transition to a less intensive program.

We believe in empowering parents with the knowledge and strategies to support their child’s continued development at home. When your child is ready to complete their therapy program, we’ll ensure you have the tools and confidence to maintain their progress. We can also help coordinate any needed follow-up care or provide recommendations for future developmental support.

How often will my child need therapy sessions?

The frequency of therapy sessions is individualized based on your child’s specific needs, goals, and progress. Typically, we start with weekly sessions, but this can range from twice weekly to once every few weeks depending on your child’s therapy plan. We regularly evaluate progress and adjust the frequency of sessions accordingly. We also consider your family’s schedule and insurance coverage when determining session frequency.

How do you support parents in continuing therapy exercises at home?

We believe that parent education and involvement are crucial for your child’s success. During each session, we’ll demonstrate exercises and techniques that you can practice at home. We provide clear, written instructions, and can even record short video demonstrations when helpful. Our therapists will regularly check in on your progress with home exercises and adjust them based on your child’s development and your family’s routine.

How do you coordinate care when my child needs multiple types of therapy?

At Kentucky Therapy Solutions, our team works collaboratively to provide comprehensive care for your child. Our therapists regularly communicate with each other to align treatment goals, share progress updates, and coordinate therapy approaches. We can often schedule multiple therapy sessions on the same day to make it more convenient for families, and we ensure that all providers are working together toward your child’s optimal development.

Can siblings be scheduled for therapy appointments at the same time?

Yes! We understand the scheduling challenges families face and make every effort to coordinate siblings’ appointments. When possible, we can schedule multiple children for concurrent sessions with different therapists, or schedule back-to-back appointments to minimize your time at our office. Just let our scheduling team know your preferences, and we’ll work to accommodate your family’s needs.

What is myofunctional therapy, and how can it help my child?
Myofunctional therapy focuses on improving the function and coordination of oral and facial muscles. It can help with:

  • Correcting tongue thrusts and improper swallowing patterns.
  • Promoting nasal breathing instead of mouth breathing.
  • Supporting orthodontic treatment by improving oral muscle balance.
  • Our experienced therapists work to create a customized plan that addresses your child’s specific needs.
What signs indicate my child might benefit from myofunctional therapy?

Common signs include:

  • Mouth breathing during day or night
  • Difficulty with eating or drinking
  • Tongue thrust or tongue resting between teeth
  • Speech difficulties
  • Frequent drooling
  • Open-mouth resting posture
  • Challenges with chewing or swallowing If you notice any of these signs, we recommend scheduling an evaluation to determine if myofunctional therapy could help your child.
How does feeding therapy address picky eating?

Feeding therapy helps children who are selective eaters or struggle with food aversion. Our approach includes:

  • Identifying underlying issues, such as sensory sensitivities or oral-motor difficulties.
  • Gradually introducing new foods and textures in a positive, low-pressure environment.
  • Building confidence and reducing anxiety around mealtime.
  • Our therapists work closely with families to create strategies for success at home, making mealtime a more enjoyable experience for everyone.
What should I bring to a feeding therapy session?

To ensure a successful feeding therapy session, it’s important to come prepared. Here’s a checklist of items to bring:

  • Your Child’s Favorite Foods and Drinks: Pack a variety of foods your child enjoys, including preferred textures (e.g., crunchy, soft, pureed). Include any foods they struggle with or avoid to help the therapist address specific challenges.
  • Feeding Tools from Home: Bring utensils, bottles, cups, or straws your child typically uses. Familiar tools can help create a comfortable environment and allow the therapist to observe any issues with current feeding practices.
  • A Change of Clothes: Feeding therapy can get messy! Bringing an extra outfit ensures your child stays clean and comfortable during or after the session.
  • Your Child’s Medical History or Feeding Journal: If you’ve been keeping notes on your child’s eating habits, food preferences, or difficulties, bring them along. This can give the therapist valuable insight into patterns or triggers.
  • Allergy and Dietary Information: Share any allergies or specific dietary restrictions to ensure safety during therapy.
  • Comfort Items (Optional): If your child has a favorite toy, blanket, or other item that helps them feel at ease, it’s a good idea to bring it.

By bringing these items, you’ll help the therapist create a personalized and effective session tailored to your child’s specific needs. If you’re unsure about what else to bring, feel free to reach out before your appointment!

How can speech and feeding therapy benefit my child?

Speech and feeding therapy can significantly enhance your child’s development. Benefits include:

  • Improving communication skills, such as articulation, language comprehension, and social interaction.
  • Addressing feeding challenges like picky eating, chewing difficulties, and swallowing disorders.
  • Our licensed therapists provide personalized care to help your child achieve their full potential.
What are the benefits of physical therapy for children?

Pediatric physical therapy helps children build strength, coordination, and confidence. It can be beneficial for:

  • Improving gross motor skills like crawling, walking, or jumping.
  • Recovering from injuries or surgeries.
  • Managing conditions such as developmental delays, muscle imbalances, or neurological disorders.
  • Our physical therapy sessions are tailored to your child’s specific needs, using fun and engaging activities to promote progress and enjoyment.
Do you provide therapy services for children with sensory processing challenges?

Yes! Our physical and occupational therapists are experienced in working with children who have sensory processing challenges. We offer comprehensive evaluations and create individualized treatment plans that address sensory sensitivity, motor skills, and daily living activities. Our therapy spaces are designed to accommodate various sensory needs while helping children develop better sensory integration skills.

What types of concerns do you address in child counseling?

At Kentucky Therapy Solutions, our child counseling services help children navigate a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, social skills, life transitions, and trauma. We work with children struggling with emotional regulation, school-related stress, family changes, peer relationships, and self-esteem. Our counselors use age-appropriate, engaging approaches that help children express themselves and develop healthy coping strategies.

How do you make counseling comfortable and engaging for children?

We understand that counseling might be new or intimidating for children. Our counselors create a warm, welcoming environment using play-based techniques, art, games, and other child-friendly activities to help kids feel at ease. We tailor our approach to each child’s interests and comfort level, making therapy feel more like a positive, natural experience rather than a clinical appointment. Both our in-person and teletherapy sessions are designed to be interactive and engaging.

How are parents involved in their child's counseling?

Parents are essential partners in their child’s therapeutic journey. While maintaining appropriate confidentiality for your child, we regularly involve parents through periodic check-ins, updates on progress, and guidance for supporting your child at home. We also provide parent coaching and strategies to help you better understand and respond to your child’s needs. The level of parent involvement can be adjusted based on your child’s age, needs, and therapeutic goals.
